Jacob's new pets

With Jacob being allergic to anything that pretty much has fur (including "hypoallergenic dogs") we just never have entertained the idea of getting pets. I'm not a fan of adding too much responsibility to my plate either. Well while on vacation Jacob found a lady bug and was just so entertained with it, even after it died, it became so clear that he needed a pet of some sort. So fish it is! We set up a tiny little tank up in his room last weekend and after only one week the filter broke (thanks Walmart) and we felt sorry for the tinyness of the tank so we upgraded to a slightly bigger tank and they seem much happier. It also makes a great nightlight and adds a peaceful water fall sound.

So meet Gulpy and Boppy!

Love 'em! Did I ever say that Noah outgrew his dog allergy? He did! We would be getting a dog by now if we weren't doing the adoption at the moment.

I didn't know that! That's great news. We're hoping the same for Jacob. How did you know? Did you just let him hang with dogs and look for a reaction or was it an all clear from the doctor? In a few years, we'd like to have a dog for outside.

When we went for his 3 year check up, they tested everything again and a few other allergens to get more info. on him...and the dog did not even react at all. That made our day, even though his peanut one had over doubled!

After Jacob outgrew his food allergies we realized the dog/cat allergy and we just knew from the times he was around them that he broke out so we didn't get confirmation from a doctor on it. We let him hang with a dog every now and then and we watch for it. Luckily, it isn't too bad of a reaction just a red rash where the dog touches him. When I wipe it clean it goes away in minutes. I'm sorry about the peanut one though!
